Inspections

Fire Code Enforcement continues to be a high priority with our department. Many lives can be saved and loss of property can be reduced with a pro-active attitude toward code enforcement. In 2000, there were 41 inspections conducted resulting in numerous discrepancies in which a letter of correction or a citation was issed. The Fire Department Inspector cited numerous vehicles for either parking in fire lanes, blocking hydrants or fire department connections. It is not the objective to burden the taxpayers with fines; however, it is sometimes necessary to bring to their attention something a simple as blocking a fire hydrant, could result in a resident or building owner sustaining substan tially more damage because of delay in placing water on the fire.
