| To change or verify the properties of a previously
set Dial-Up Networking connection to connect to Planet Earth Internet,
including the phone number or server settings, you should double-click on
your My Computer icon, then on the Dial-Up Networking icon. In
the resulting window, you should see your Planet Earth Internet connection
icon (or your previously setup icon, if different). Right-click on that icon
and select the Properties choice from the pop-up menu.
You should now be looking at the Properties window. To change the phone number, simply edit it in the appropriate fields. Make certain to include the area code, even if the number you're dialing is in the same area code you're dialing from.
If that's the only change you need to make, you may hit OK to close the window and save the changes. To change any server settings, you must click on the Server Types tab (if you are coming from another provider, you must click on the Server Types tab). The Server Types tab should now be at the front. The Type of Dial-Up Server should be set to PPP; under Advanced Options you should only have Enable Software Compression checked; and the only Allowed Network Protocol should be TCP/IP. Now click on the TCP/IP Settings button.
You should now be looking at the TCP/IP Settings window. Make sure that in the top section, the radio button marked Server assigned IP address is selected. In the central section, the radio button marked Server assigned name server addresses should be selected. It is not necessary to enter the primary and secondary dns server ip addresses unless you are instructed to by technical support. They are listed below for reference only.
At the bottom, "Use IP header compression" should be checked. "Use default gateway on remote network" SHOULD BE checked. Click on the "Ok" button here and then "Ok" again on the previous dialog box. You should be now be ready to connect to Planet Earth Internet.
